Twitter has been recently seeing a lot of publicity. One of the main reason is beacause of the number of celebrities who join up, after realizing its PR potential. Some of the most popular tweeters are Ashton Kutcher, Demi More, Shaquille O’Neill, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Oprah, Ellen Degeneres and many more. Recently we saw a lot of Indian celebrities also heading the twitter way. Gul Panag and Mallika Sherawat joined twitter from B-Town. During the elections Rahul Gandhi started off with tweeting.
Our first mallu celebrity to start tweeting was Shashi Tharoor. He regulary updates his status and engage in conversation with his followers. And now mallu actor Geethu Mohandas joins twitter much to the delight of the huge mallu twitter community. Within no time the news spread through the twitter world (twitterverse as tweeters call it) and now she already has 60 followers. And what is making the tweeters happy is that she is actually replying to them.
We wish all the best for Geethu on her twitter adventure. Soon let us hope that more and more Mallu stars start tweeting. We can just imagine Mohanlal tweeting.
Here is one more reason for you to go to Oberon Mall, Cochin. You can now see people scared and screaming, not just in front of the escalator, but also coming out of the brand new Scary House that opened here last week. Those who have visited the scary house in garuda mall, Bangalore already know what to expect. As we made our way to the third floor we were astounded by the sight of a really long queue to get into the scary house. We decided that this was not the best time to wait to enter we headed over to the food court to grab a quick bite. In an hour we went down to find that the queue had totally disappeared. We even doubted if one of those ghosts escaped from the scary house. We quickly went and got ourselves the overpriced entry passes. For Rs. 50 per head for a 3 minute walk in the dark, it felt like a total rip off. Soon we find ourselves next to the door, ready to enter. Just outside the door you find a kid wearing a creepy coat and hat. He is obviously the bouncer of this land of ghosts. We casually asked him if it was REALLY scary and he just gave us a crippled smile. Probably because he was not happy with his attire!
Consider yourself lucky if you manage to see anything scary. The place is so dark that you will find yourself bumping on to the walls. We felt someone touching us in the dark. We would like to believe that it is the midgets trying to scare us. We did not see any of those “cutting edge” robotics and animatronics. All we felt we did was walk down a pitch dark path. At the end of the 3 minutes just before to exit there would be a little something, that we would not like to reveal here. That is the closest you would get to getting scared. Those who have been in the garuda mall scary house will find this one a replica. They say that you see only 60% of the treats the first time you go. So to have a full experiance you are required to go twice. With them charging Rs 50 for a 3 minute walk in the dark, there is no way you will find us going there again. Remember, children below 8, pregnant women and those with a weak heart are not allowed inside.
How To Actually Have Fun At The Scary House
So the scary house experiance was not all that great. Here are 2 things that Kochivibe found was fun to do inside. Be carefull. You might be escorted outside by the staff.
Even if you know the way keep shouting “Which Way?? Which Way??”. They will keep telling you the right directions. Even if you heard them still shout out “Which Way?? Which Way??” and take the wrong turn. Trust us, you will have stomach cramps laughing.
At a turn hide for the people behind to come silently. Once they reach the turn jump and scream and scare the living daylights out of them. Afterall, they paid to get scared and they deserve it.!
Jose Thomas Performing Art Centre (JTPac) brought to the city of Kochi, an adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster comedy Ek Lagnachi Ghosht, shaadi@barbaadi.com on 23rd May, 2009 in association with the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation. Radio Mango being the radio partner.
After his outstanding appearance in the famous Bollywood flick Hera Pheri; nothing less could have been expected out of this talented comedian actor Paresh Rawal.2.5 hours of non stop entertainment is how we can best describe this play. Paresh Rawal and his team (small screen artists) had the entire audience rolling with laughter with their exceptional performance.
Written by Umesh Shukla and directed by Paresh Rawal, the plot is based on a Gujarati guy falling in for a babe at a bus stop and how the story proceed leading to their blissful wedding to an equally chaotic post marital life. How the wife doesn’t see eye to eye with the mother-in-law and how the Gujarati guy (Paresh Rawal) goes through the brunt. I was looking forward to seeing Ye Jo hai Zindagi fame actor and wife of Paresh Rawal, Swaroop Sampat on the stage; however she didn’t come and her part was played by some other artist. Anyways, the show was simply hilarious and we all enjoyed it to the hilt.
I think JTPac is one of the good things that has happened to Kochi offlate. Thanks to Jose Thomas (Choice Group) and our very own Mohanlal, who needs no introduction, for brining to us a world class performing art centre at Choice School, Tripunithara. The acoustics are amazing however I feel the stage could have been a little bigger so that in future they have their option open for bigger performing bands and artists. Anyways, the management would know better, afterall it’s their vision.
So far there have been four performances, and I have been lucky to be able to attend three of them – Dr. Subramaniam on his violin, Kavitha Krishnamurthy on vocals along with their kids; Cotemporary Jazz concert by Usha Uthup and the ofcourse the most recent Hindi play by Paresh Rawal. The one that I missed was Shobhana’s dance recital.
The management has done some intelligent thinking by inviting as special guests international diplomats for each of its show. It will not only help promoting Indian art and culture but also throw open the stage for international artists and exposing people back home to the world art.
The upcoming show that you can look forward to at JTpac, is the Malayalam Rock band – AVIAL playing on 6th June at 7:00 pm; also brought in association with the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation. Online booking for tickets can be done at www.jtpac.org
Twitter saw celebrities like Shashi Tharoor and Gul Panag joining twitter. They were welcomed by the Indian twitter community with open arms. But latest celebrity to enter twitter, Mallika Sherawat is facing protest from a part of the twitter community. Here are some of the tweets from Mallika Sherawat’s twitter profile.
“And from an indian poll taken recently, “Best cleavage” goes to… uh oh” – Mallika Sherawat. (tweet can be found here)
“The question of the day seems to be: did I do my first nude scene in “Hisss”?” – Mallika Sherawat (tweet can be found here)
Tweeters from India are obviously not very happy with Mallika Sherawat’s entry and attitude on twitter. A couple of Indian tweeters even launched a “Mallika I Hate You” and the “Mallika You Suck” campaign which is picking up speed. She has also begun to block all tweeters who is protesting, from seeing her profile.
We wish this item girl luck, with her entry in twitter. In the mean time Kochi based malayalam actress Geethu Mohandas also has joined twitter and can be found here.

Few hours into before the counting starts, at the center all parties are busy trying to voo the parties of the thir front to their kitty. The exit poll results predicts a win for UDF in kerala and UDF is supposed to win 12-15 seats out of the 20 seats for parliament. IN 2004 they won just one seat and thererfore it is a good come back. The left on the meanwhile is on the loosing front and they would be getting 5 to 8 seats in this Loksabha elections.
In Ernakulam Constituency who will win is clearly unsure but majority of the exit polls predict a win for the experienced K.V Thomas Master. Sindhu joy though could put up a strong fight. The situation would have been quite different if instead of KV Thomas it was Hiby Eden who was contesting the elections.
Maharajas College and Mattanchery Town Hall will be the counting centres for Ernakulam constituency. The counting of postal votes will begin at 8 am and the counting of general votes will begin at 8.15 am. The results should be out by 11 am.
500 officials will be deployed for the counting process, another 500 will be used for the works related to it, said District Collector M Beena. 1,200 police personnel are also deployed at the counting centres to ensure that the law and order situation is under control.
