Some movies fade away in the sands of time while others stay. They have a deeper impact, a better insight to those realistic moments; all shown on-screen. Malayalam cinema’s new wave of change has led to the birth of some excellent movies. And the latest one being, ‘Ee Adutha Kalathu’! After much speculations and guesswork, the movie hit theatres with its clear and fresh concept. For those who complained that director Arun Kumar Aravind copied his first flick ‘Cocktail’ and there was a lack of newness to it, the director has given it right back with a beautiful story-line, and creative efforts.
The movie starring Indrajith, Murali Gopy, Tanushri Ghosh, Mythili, Anoop Menon, Lena and Nishan, tells the tale of the lives of these different people and how they get intertwined. The plot of the story moves at a slow pace, minus the boredom and lagging scenes. The director has made sure that his audience sits throughout the movie, with anxiety and suspense hanging in the air. From the shattered family life of Madhuri (Tanushri) and Ajay (Murali), poverty struck couple Vishnu (Indrajith) and Ramani (Mythili), the story depicts how important relations can be in today’s world. It explores the emotions of your modern day man, and the extent he goes to fulfill it. But little does he realize the pitfalls hidden in the path ahead. In the hurry to fulfill the societal norms, most of us forget to live life the way we really want to. Don’t we?
The direction of photography has been done by Shehnad Jalal, and the script was written by Murali Gopy who played the role of Ajay in the movie. The movie was produced by Raju Mallath under the banner Ragam Movies. Music is by Gopi Sundar. Edited by Arun Kumar Aravind himself, he has made sure that the audience takes home a good message along with two and half hours of entertainment.
Man’s lust and greed can often take him through the wrong road. Sheer luck might come to your rescue then, which is, if you are amongst the lucky ones. Watch the movie, and it wouldn’t fail to entertain and enlighten you for sure. We need such innovative movies in Malayalam cinema. We boast of an industry with the best script writers and directors. ‘Ee Adutha Kalath’ bears testimony to the fact that Malayalam cinema will produce more good movies in the years to come.

It seems nobody wants to say anything bad about the new generation movies these days.
The first half is so boring and pathetic I almost slept through it. Very poor editing I would say. Second half however saved the day. The movie could have very well been reduced to less than 2 hours. Back ground score is awesome. To top it, good performances by Indrajit, Myhtili.
Overall, the movie is good, however nothing extra ordinary. It would have been very mediocre movie save for the last half hour. The author should show more courage and call a spade, a spade.
