The event comprises of video installations that refer to the Hortus Malabaricus, its compiler Hendrik van Drakenstein and its contemporary usage. It also deals with the history and present day traces of Dutch colonization in Fort Cochin. Fort Kochi has been a bowl of cultures. Having hosted people from far-off lands, this place in the city of Ernakulam is the homeland to many people. From Jews to Anglo-Indians and more, we see an array of cultures here.

Maybe he does not carry off the ‘angry young man’ image which was expected from this young superstar especially with the kind of role that was assigned to him in his debut movie. It has been just a few days (and not even a week!) since ‘Second Show’ has released, and Dulquar is already in the news for good reasons. Here is what Kochi youngsters think of Dulquar Salman, the budding superstar.

“I had very less expectations about this guy. Especially being Mammooty’s son, and so much of hype given, I thought he wouldn’t be up to the mark. But Dulquar was awesome in ‘Second Show’”, says Ashraf K., a resident of Kochi. “Dulquar needs to take more lessons on acting, but as a newcomer he has done a splendid job”, said Anand, an engineering student from Kochi. “The hype given to him is worth it. He is unique and good. And he has done quite a decent job as a newcomer”, added Anand.

I loved his performance. He needs to improve a bit when it comes to certain emotional scenes. He has the substance to become a hero, and we look forward for more from him. In a whole, Dulquar was awesome”, said Lakshmi, lecturer at Model Engineering College, Kochi. ‘Kannadakkal’ is inspired by ‘Kannada’, a prose piece by the famous Malayalam poet and lyricist, Murukkan Kattakkada. The songs show their protest against corruption that prevails in the society. The band has always come up with themes and topics that stand against corruption. They conducted shows against the pathetic condition of the roads, and also for the Mullaperiyar issue which fetched huge success. “We make sure that our songs shows our protest against the government’s cold attitude towards corruption around us”, said Gilbert, drummer of the band Whitesugar.

“This is our first try with ‘Kannadakkal’. We are yet to bring out a big performance very soon, which will most probably be this month itself”, added Gilbert. He said the show will be open to the public and it would held in Kochi itself.
