COF: Mentoring the Smiles of today for a better tomorrow

kid

When a group of young hot-shot entrepreneurs meet, they probably talk about projections, shares & VC funding, Now meet a group who ended up having coffee over setting up an NGO for the upliftment of the under privileged kids in a very unique way. Colors of Future, as it is works towards filling the gap of creating mentors in a society that has no directions or perspective on where it is heading to. The organisation follows a self sustaining model and also plans to harness CSR, which in India is at a very nascent level.

The idea originated from Andrine Mendez, co-founder, Smiley Lifestyle Card; the idea being the facts that under privileged kids lack the right mentorship or direction. That’s when he shared this idea with similar minds, Nelvin Joseph – CEO, Artin Dynamics, Sona Thomas -Social worker, Anitha Kuriakose-Educational Professional and the whole idea became a movement. The core team now consist of Sanjay Menon, CMO, Artin Dynamics; Neil Gonsalves, Divin TV; Jebi Mathews – Professional Trainer and a lot of young guns who measure their success in measure of how much they change the world around them.

A soft launch happened on 19th of August, 2010 which will be followed by some fund raiser events. The organisation has two wings: one which includes only corporate professionals & one a student community called ‘Rumor’. While the corporate community will be mentoring underprivileged kids morally and financially, the student wing (Rumor) will be a skill exchange forum for campuses. Originated from St.Teresa’s College, Rumor is adopted to the Colors portfolio and its responsible in conducting workshops/sessions in various campuses on topics inaccessible or new to the students.

The vision of Colors can be summarized in following words:
1. Create members who can mentor a child
2. Based on that, suggest the child a career.
3. Find funds to educate/train the child
4. Placement of the child in the chosen career.

The students’ wing will be primarily focusing on a skill-exchange program within the members of the org. allowing each member to grow individually.

We invite corporate firms as well as individuals to be part of the movement & not only be a part of social movement but explore streams of self improvement & growth on individual levels.
