With malls all set to spring up every where in Cochin city, the Gold Souk, designed by the designer of Burj-al-Arab, which is now under construction seems promising. Just when people were getting tired of the Super Mall, the Bay Pride Mall and the Oberon Mall, a new one is all set to open.

The 1000 crore Gold Souk will also introduce KFC to Kerala. Fried chicken experts say KFC will sure be welcome. There are even rumors that the fast food joint, McDonalds, is also planning an entry into Cochin, Kerala.
Apart from these food joints retail chains like Pantaloons and Spencers will also make their entries into Cochin via the Gold Souk. Also all the local jewellers would be opening their outlets and so would be the major textile stores. Apart from the stores, a 4 screen multiplex has also been promised for Cochin.The Gold Souk is expected to open by April – May 2009. And by the time people get tired of the Gold Souk, there will be the Lulu Mall ready, with newer additions to attract the crowd.
