With rhythm in her soul, funk in her attitude, Kini has been steadily creating waves in the house music scene in India.

Starting off as resident DJ at Poison Hyderabad, Kini rose through the ranks to open for massive headline acts such as dOP, Dale Anderson & Anil Chawla (Global Underground), Djuma Soundsystem, James Har- court (Twisted Frequency) and Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West). Her popularity continues to grow- performing at festivals such as GO: Madras as well as opening the party at India’s biggest electronic music event – Sunburn in Goa.

This time, MAD (Make a Difference) and Casino Hotel is joining hands for some cake mixing. Make a Difference (MAD) is a platform for a community to come together, train and deploy high potential young people to orphanages and street shelters in order to provide a positive learning eco-system for children at risk. From its inception in 2006 as a small venture of 20 volunteers, MAD today consists of over 1500 high potential youth volunteers, spread across 23 cities in India reaching out to over 4500 underprivileged children in over 60 orphanages.

To help then with their fundraising activities, the Casino Hotel – Willingdon Island, has agreed to conduct a pastry workshop, which is scheduled to be on 16^th November 2012. The workshop is conducted by the Pastry Chef at the Casino Hotel, wherein preparation of three Christmas desserts would be demonstrated, in addition to a hands-on session of “How to professionally Ice a Cake”. The registration for the workshop entails a fee of Rs.1500, wherein all proceeds will go to the MAD Foundation.

There are 5 chefs from Zurich, Switzerland are in town and they are taking Kochi through a thorough vegetarian gourmet experience. These chefs work at one of Zurich’s most reputed and oldest restaurant. The current exhibition at David Hall is Untitled and presents a selection of paintings produced at different Art Camps sponsored by CGH Earth – primarily from camps held at the Swaswara and Spice Village resorts and the Casino Hotel, last year.

They have been sponsoring  National Artists Camps where artists from other parts of India are invited to come and work with artists from Kerala. This is done every year with the aim of supporting local artists as well encouraging artistic interaction between artists residing in different parts of the country.

The artists whose work is on display are- Bahuleyan, Sunil Vallarpadam, Balamuralikrishnan, Radha Gomaty, Manoj Vyloor , Purushottam Adve, Sanal, Abilash Unni, Prathapan G, Srikumari, Norman Tagore, Rajesh Ambalkar, Cynthia Prabhakar, Deepak Khandelawal, Shyama, Vishaka Apte and Wilfred K.P

The exhibition will continue  till the 15th of July.

The gallery is open from 10am to 7pm and is closed on Monday.

Eric Vloeiman’s Gatecrash will ‘Jazz’ up Kochi tomorrow. This famous Jazz and Trumpet player will be playing at Casino Hotel on the 12^th of June 2012. A Dutch musician, he is widely acclaimed, and has performed at various stages across the globe. Having studied classical music from the Rotterdam Academy of Music, Eric never had to turn back ever since he started performing. His gigs have always been a class apart and widely appreciated.

You will also have Jeroen Van Vliet at Keyboard, Jaspen Van Hulten at Drums and Gulli Gudmundss at Bass Guitar. They are all set to treat you with some lovely music this time.
