Pastry Heaven – Deli @ Gateway

Wanna dig into some Baskin Robbins, but the price is drawing you back? Deli, the coffee shop at Taj near Marine Drive gives Baskin Robbins ice cream, that too two scoops for 40 bucks. No kiddin’ people, you need to go there to believe this!! And it’s not just the ice-cream that can thrill you, they’ve got a lovely collection of yummy pastries and bakery stuff, which needs to be checked out. Unfortunately, the size of these are too li’l which might break your heart ;) . The prices of these are quite reasonable and hence guarantee you that you won’t get a heart attack cos’ it’s from the TAJ. Restaurant Manager, Jawahar Sharma says that you get some of the finest bakery products from Deli. “I’ve travelled to many places across the world, and the food from Deli is one of the best. Our Chef Chandran needs to be appreciated for that. He does a marvelous job”. Health freaks can also dig into their lemon tea, green tea as well. They also have some good coffee. Another unique feature about the shop would be that they do not have a proper menu card, and it’s just to give you the feel of French or European shops which run this way. The name ‘Deli’ is a French term which signifies a pastry/coffee shop where people come in and have conversations. The shop opens at 11.30 a.m and is on till 11.30 in the night. So here is your solution for the Baskin Robbins cravings!

Kashi Art café

Coffee and cake

Coffee and cake

Kashi Art Café deserves a spot in my list, not because of its serene ambience and excellent music or the art that is showcased, the menu is very meager considering the fact that we are centering on food in this article. But Kashi beats most ‘Coffee-shops’ in terms of the coffee they have by miles. They have the best coffee that I have tasted anywhere and it’s a common consensus that people concur with me. The French pressed coffee comes in the press with milk and sugar separately provided for us to mix according to our taste. Their Lemon Iced Teas and Cold Coffee’s are to be savored with their chicken sandwiches. The icing on top of the cake and we are talking about the cake here literally, is their home-made Chocolate cakes doused with their chocolate sauce. Nothing beats having these and just relaxing to music.
Kashi offers what many café’s can’t seem to provide, the best coffee served in the idyllic location of fort Kochi. It is located in Burgher Street near the Delta public School in Fort Kochi.
