Who would not want to live a healthy life and die a peaceful death? Who wouldn’t mind NOT spending loads of money on food and unhealthy living habits? Well, let me not unnecessarily complicate things now. Green is the way to live a healthy life. So for all those Kochiites out there who still haven’t figured out what organic ‘literally’ means, let me enlighten you. This is a way of living a healthy life, using products that are brought in raw from nature, in complete purity. This also means that you get to relate and associate more with ‘mother nature’ in a lovelier manner. With organic products ruling the markets and people running hurry-scurry to update themselves with organic foods, this sure looks like a healthy trend.
Thankfully, Kochi isn’t lagging behind in the organic trend. But what requires a special mention is that Kochi does not host many stores that sell exclusive unrefined food. Other than the regular Indian stores like Fabindia, Kochi stands a step behind when it comes to hosting fine organic outlets. Restaurants like ‘Lumiere’ (at Panampilly Nagar) have been the pioneer in serving organic meals. With vegetables and other edible items claimed to be grown in their own farm, the endeavor is unique.
From junk to hotel food, fatal and toxic are available in plenty in our markets. When we happily sit along with our friends sharing a pack of Lays or sipping on Coke, lest do we realize that we are slurping on the most venomous edible products. So much has been said and done about this, so let me not go there.
Keeping aside the supposedly ‘junk’ and ‘hotel’ food can create wonders to your digestive system. You could give that a try! Evade such foods for a week (at least to clean up your system), and your digestive system would be happy that you have done that bit for it. Now don’t bamboozle, and mix it up with the regular dieting spree that we all get into (in regular breaks). You must relish all the good food available. But this time, try hopping into some organic store next to your home. Do an organic shopping and try use these items when you cook!
Leading a healthy lifestyle has become more of a priority than a ‘way of living’. With disease and infections that sprung up every now and then in cities like Kochi, food has become a major matter of concern. We need to be completely aware of what we are doing, and how we are going about doing things. Live the healthy way, and stay away from all the possible peril in the environment. Or rather, live healthy, stay healthy!
