fashion

Coming to you from the very heart of Chalakudy are the final collections of 15 graduating fashion technology students. This show marks the culmination of three years’ study and each collection is original and individual, representing the designer’s personal design philosophy. These students of Fashion Design come to study in NCIT from all over the country, and their alumni work in rewarding fashion careers in and out of India. Many of the students started their degrees without sewing or design skills and their creative, contemporary collections show the strong awareness of modern fashion they have worked hard to develop in just three years of study. The show reflects the international nature of the students and varied design influences comes from a wide variety of concepts.

1. HARIDA – The historical link between India and Thailand antedates the arrival of Hindu-Buddhist elements in Thai society.  ‘Buddhism’ is the spiritual bond that knots India & Thailand. Buddhism Propagated in Thailand in the 3rd Century B.C. by Buddhist monks sent by King Asoka, it was adopted as the state religion of Thailand and has ruled the hearts and minds of Thais ever since. The collection is an inspiration from the Indo-Thai devotional knot – Buddhism. We lay down before you THE DEVOTIC KNOT.

2. AKHILA – Harajuku as it is now traces its root to the end of World War II. U.S. soldiers and their families began to occupy the area known as Harajuku. It became an area where curious young people flocked to experience a different culture. The fashion styles of youths in Harajuku Street rarely conform to one particular style and are usually a mesh of many. This fashion infuses multiple looks and styles to create a unique form of dress. We present before you the Harajuku Street.. ROCK & ROLL.

3. SUMI – Ashbury and Pusher Street – the dominant place of Hippies, situated in America were ruled by regiment during the period up to 1960’s. The street was a melting pot of music, sex, art and politics. Here the club wear collection is created by clubbing the characteristics of hippie style and military style. Camouflage – THE REAL BLEND OF NATURE.

4. NEETHU.J – Mod was a lifestyle based around fashion and music that developed in London in the late 1950s. People who followed this lifestyle were known as mods. “Modism is clean living under difficult circumstances”. The collection is an inspiration from the energy and vibrancy of the mod culture. Laying down before you the MODE OF MOD.

5. UMA – Crystal balls have gained a very important place in the practice of the occult beliefs. These balls are believed to be a medium through which some people can see events that others cannot. In the media, crystal balls have been depicted to show the past, the present as well as the future, but always the vision seen in the crystal ball is unknown to the person seeing it. The vision is always a revelation. Laying down before you crystal gazers REVELATION.

6. JENCY – A great costume to wear for Halloween or any dress up event is a cowgirl outfit. Look like you’ve stepped right out of the Wild West and have fun dancing the night away.A cowgirl did not exist in the Wild West times as far as being specified as a female. Ladies did work ‘out on the range’ but would have worn exactly the same as the men.Strong, bold, confident, Rough & tough …. Nothing could stop them.Presenting before you the COW GIRLS… BOLD, BLUNT AND BEYOND.

7. DEEPA – One of the most visible aspects of Las Vegas cityscape is its use of dramatic architecture. Its wide aisles, bright atmosphere…  a walk down the strip will wow the visitor. The strip is a nickname for the street named Las Vegas Boulevard, and is ground zero for the hot shows, wild nightlife, luxurious hotels, and exciting casinos; in short it’s all about loosing and gaining. We reveal before you “A SPARKLING NIGHT IN LAS VEGAS”.

7. SAGEETHA – One of the most popular cos-play trends amongst anime lovers is the Gothic Lolita look, a trend which began as early as 1999 and became famous among female teens. The main giveaway of this trend is baby doll costumes in white, with red hues or any bold colors mixed with Gothic accessories. Lolita a subculture originating in Japan primarily influenced by Victorian clothing as well as costumes from the rococo period. Lolita fashion allows the girl to feel young, Cute, beautiful or off-limits. Lolita’s are of different styles gothic, punk, classic & sweet. Laying down before you GOTHICS & SWEET LOLITAS.

9. ALIN – Caribbean fashion Described by British Vogue as “one of the important new trends in world fashion,” Take off the Bob Marley T-shirt. Hang up the guayabera. Above all, stop looking like a tourist, says the Caribbean street fashion. A lot of brocades, denims, little skirts, jacket-type things. It’s more casual day wear, flowing cotton and silks, “They design for themselves.”We present before you the Caribbean street… Pirate’s style… Emulating FUSION WEAR.

10. NEETHU.MJ – ‘Raqzameen’ The land of dancers. The theme arises from the Indian nomads- Banjarans or Lambadis originated in the Jodhpur & Jaisalmier desert areas of Rajasthan. Presenting before you the COLORFUL BANJARANS with a touch of western essence.

11. REMYA – Argyle is a familiar pattern that is most popular in the wildly popular argyle socks and argyle sweaters, consisting of layers of overlapping diamonds and crisscrossing lines that create the illusion of three dimensions. Although the original origins of the argyle pattern are not completely clear, one thing is for certain argyle is here to stay in fashion, design, and pop culture. We present before you MAGIC OF GEOMETRY.

12. STEFFY – Cyber Goth is a subculture that derives from elements of cyberpunk, Goth, raver, and riveted fashion. Cyber Goths are truly the antithesis of all that is Goth. They like bright neon colors, worship futurism and technology, and listen to dance music. Cyber Goths are the most conspicuous ones in the club with their insane pony falls, goggles, futuristic rave-inspired clothing, towering New Rock platforms, and miscellaneous glowing bits and pieces. Laying down before you GOTHIC GUSTO.

13. ANJALI – Barkhor Street located in the old area of Lhasa City, Tibet, Built to encircle the famous Jokhang Monastery in Lhasa. Barkhor Street is a place full of religious atmosphere and a world of exotic articles. The collection is an inspiration from the colorful street of barkhor. We lay down before you BARKHOR STREET…  The WINDOW OF TIBET.
14. ANUPA – The traditional Spanish dress is often associated with Flamenco, originating from the gypsy culture in Andalusia in the south of Spain. Yet as a style city, Madrid, and indeed Spain, is breaking away from its stereotype of ruffled dresses and setting its own fashion agenda. It might be the dark horse of the fashion race, but Spanish dress can more than hold its own, in the style arena…be it the high street or haute couture. Presenting before you the … MESMERIZING PLAY OF ELAGANCE.

15. NEETHU.EM – Fashion is a form of self-expression. It’s all about experimenting with looks and, in many cases, attracting attention. The Islamic headscarf, or hijab, is exactly the opposite. It’s about modesty and attracting as little attention as possible. Fashion is about expression and this is a legitimate part of Islam. The hijabi street fashion with her gown trailing after her in the ground. We lay before you WRAPPED UP IN STYLE – The HIJAB FASHION.
