November 1st 2009 saw Kerala Celebrate ‘Kerala Piravi’ and the launch of FFK (Fashion Federation of Kerala) at Bolghatty Palace,Kochi. FFK President, OG Sunil indicated the lack fashion in our state which is more culpable to more conservative set of trends. He is looking forward to revolutionize the traditional handloom industry by ‘stylizing’ currently existing styles, such as Sari’s, Shirts, Salwar’s etc, all with the use of handloom materials. The event was inaugurated with the solemn presence of Shri.Elamaram Kareem, Minister for Industries & Commerce. The event had a guest list who’s who of Kochi, like Jose Dominic of CGH Earth, in traditional attire as per the dress code, befitting the significance of the day.

After OG Sunil (FFK president) paved down the objectives of the launch of FFK, to put Kerala’s Fashion Industry in the fashion scene, the press was given a free rein to lay down their questions on this endeavor. Kerala’s favorite Ranjini Haridas emceed this glamorous event!
Being the launch of a Fashion Federation, it was only appropriate that the night was host to two phases of scintillating fashion shows, showcasing designs done in traditional styles. The first phase had models strut their good’s in Designer Hari Anand’s work. The guests were given a small appetizer of what FFK was hoping to bring into the fashion scene. The guests were also entertained with traditional fine arts in between the Fashion shows. The second fashion show gave us a sight of Designer Asha Sunil‘s work.
