JUS’ JAMM at JT Pac Kochi


For all the music-lovers who never can’t get enough of classic rock, all the way from the sixties to eighties, we have good news for you. JT Pac, the haven for art-lovers, is coming up with JUS’ JAMM, a musical evening where classic rock and pop will be played at its best. The bands Wrenz United, Kalinga and The Illusion will come together that evening. From Beatles to Eagles and more, you would be treated with some classic songs. The event is happening at JT Pac on the 3rd of February 2012 at 7.00 p.m.

You can witness the band members jamming and they will make sure that all your musical needs are catered to. Maestros Peter Nolasco, Eugene Issacs, Carl Frenais will all be there at the event to perform. They are names that Kochi has heard of and many of us have also had the opportunity to listen to their awesome music.

This time too, these musicians are all set to jam and rock the stage. Make sure you are there at JT Pac and don’t miss this one, KOCHI!

Shobhana turns ‘Krishna’ this week at JT Pac


Shobhana, a splendid dancer and talented actor too! Who does not like this pretty lady who has awed us with her performances in movies like ‘Manichithrathazhu’! You wouldn’t mind catching a glimpse of this beautiful lady if she is in Kochi, would you? Then we bring you some good news. ‘Krishna’, a dance performance which has been created and choreographed by Shobhana will be staged at JT Pac (Thripunithura) on the 20th of Janury 2012 at 6 p.m.

Shobhana would be accompanied by 23 dancers from her famous dance school ‘Kaladarpana’ at Chennai. You can see her sway and move to the tunes as ‘Krishna’. The performance which would last for more than 2 hours, will entertain you with the best from dance and music. With Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty having done the technical bit for the dance, ‘Krishna’ will be a class dance show which you would not want to miss.

For those who have witnessed Shobhana’s classic masterpiece ‘Ramaravanan’, you would know how much expertise and effort goes into her dance performances. In ‘Krishna’, the voice for Arjun has been given by superstar Surya. Shabana Azmi has given the voice for Gandhari, whereas Konkana Sen gave her voice for the character Radha. ‘One out of Six’ for Kochi!


‘One out of Six’. Yes, that is the name of the play that will be next staged in Kochi. And it’s none other than Kochi’s classy JT Pac hosting the show this time. Cyrus Broacha, whom we are all acquainted with through shows like MTV Bakra, will be performing for the show. JT Pac has been hosting some wonderful plays and performances every week for Kochiites. Undoubtedly a treat in itself, we must agree that these plays are one-of-its-kind.

The play will be a complete entertainer and has more of humour added to it. The story revolves around a young man who works as a dry-cleaner, what his life offers him, added with some fun to it. With umpteen hilarious consequences that happen in the play, audience would definitely not get bored. And what more! This would be a great Sunday relaxation to you.

Mallika Sarabhai Performs at JT Pac


Have you wished to see the classical dance maestro Mallika Sarabhai move to blissful tunes? Here is the chance to witness it all live. Mallika Sarabhai will be in Kochi on the 25th of September, this coming Sunday, to perform at JTPac Thripunithura. She will be performing ‘India: Then, Now, Forever’ at the venue.

This dance production which was choreographed by Miss. Sarabhai was widely acclaimed and was premiered in the year 2006. The production will showcase the unity and harmony that persists amidst the wide array of cultural and religious differences in our county. Our country hosts people and cultures which are extremely different yet we move in harmony. Undoubtedly, you would not see this anywhere other than in India. And this can be best showcased through a dance form. The idioms of tribal, classical, folk and contemporary dances will be used to highlight India as a bowl of cultures.

Chanakya to be staged at JT PAC this weekend


OK, now here is a chance to revisit history. But wait, not through those regular boring history classes which you have loathed to the core. JTPac presents ‘Chanakya’, a play based on the life of this great man ‘Chanakya’. A figure well-known across the world, Chanakya is popular for his qualities including wittiness, drollness, and smartness that led a kingdom to victory. For people who have been acquainted with Chanakya, the wise teacher to the first Maurya Emperor Chandragupta, you would for sure like this one.

The play is written by Mihir Bhuta, and directed by Manoj Joshi. With a talented star cast comprising of Manoj Joshi, Sanjay Bhatia, Ashok Banthia, Shakil Khan, Dharmendra Gohil, Karan Pamnani, Sunil Shinde, Pradeep Vengurlekar, Priya Dixit, Nilesh Trivedi, Sultan and Rafiq Khan starring in the play, audience would be treated with something remarkable. The play is produced by Charu Joshi and Mayur Barot.

Kochi’s pop weekend with Remo and the Microwave Pappadums


God of Indian pop is all geared up to set foot on Kochi this Sunday, the 31st of July, to treat Kochiites with his best. Well, he requires no introduction! We have all heard him come up with amazing songs in Indian pop by fusing Portuguese, Latin and African music as well. This rock star who has seen the 70’s musical era reigned by The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and Elvis Presley, has been influenced by psychedelic music completely.

Can anyone forget Remo’s souvenir to Indian pop music album including his ‘Politicians don’t know how to rock n’ roll’, and of course his Leher Pepsi ad? So, now you get to witness this super star performing in Kochi too in a LIVE CONCERT!!! His live band ‘The Microwave Papadums’ will be taking Kochiites to another world of music this weekend.

MotherJane to perform in city – JT Pac – January 29 – Kochi | Cochin


JT Performing Art Centre ( JT Pac )  is to present a performance by Keralas very own rock band “Mother Jane”.  Formed in Kochi 1996, Mother Jane was awarded the ‘Best Indie Rock Band in Asia’ by AVIMA ’09, the world’s largest Indie music awards, featuring 16 countries.

Mother Jane is a band whose music is both spiritual and intelligent, and connects with the passion in everyone.  With the message “Love All, Rock All”, Mother Jane, the band’s ‘guardian angel’, appears in various forms. The band’s belief is that music is by far the best and purest drug in the world. Here are five Indian men who picked up western instruments in something as “confined” as a rock band and yet sound like they’ve found a spiritual blend between the East and the West. The band comprises Suraj Mani, vocals; Baiju Dharmarajan on the lead guitar; John Thomas on the drums; Clyde Rozorio on the bass guitar and Deepu Sasidharan on the rhythm guitar. Mother Jane has the distinction of being the only rock band from India to have their music played on American, Mexican and Japanese radio stations and has a cult following all over India.
