The hungama, debates and pondering over IPL Kochi seems to be taking a backseat, we decided to ask Kochiites what they thought about all this hungama, we received mixed emotions from Kochiites. Kochivibe managed to ask people from various walks of life, their take on Kochi IPL. And here is what we got!

Shopkeepers or businessmen around the Kaloor stadium premises are the ones who have benefitted from IPL, the most. Ajith Lal, who is the manager for 11 varieties, a restaurant in Kaloor-Kadavanthra road says that the sales rise to 30% when there is an IPL match. “Crowd swarms into the restaurant after 10p.m. when there is a match at the stadium. And that can be seen in the drastic rise in sales at the end of the day “, claims Ajith. So does the tremendous hike in sales for those shawarma shops and ‘thattukadas’ in the locale require a special mention??!!

Ejaz Ahmed, a resident of Kochi feels that IPL matches helps Kochi grow economically too. “IPL helps Kochi stand in a global platform, and this shall turn out to be a blessing to our city. Changing the venue is sad”, says Ejaz. This is the voice of young Kochi, and they think having a team for our own is more than ‘adipoli’! J

But yeah, we do have a category who opposes IPL as well . You guessed it right, it’s the ‘parents section’ of the town! “Other than spoiling the kids and wasting their time, these IPL matches don’t do any good. The franchisees make so much of money, and they benefit too much out of it. So who are the losers here?”, says Girija Krishnakumar, a housewife from Kochi.

Finally, Kochi Tuskers was launched in a gala event filled with extravaganza and show! The official launch of the logo and the promotional video was held at Hotel Le Meridian in Kochi. The rally that started off supporting the IPL Kochi team was the perfect start to the evening. And we witnessed the players walking in with splendour and grandeur. When the team owners and players, along with the physiotherapist, coach etc. stood on the podium, the evening marked the start to an era- Kochi Tuskers. To add to the glitz, cine star Jayaram was also present at the event. With our pretty lady Ranjini Haridas doing the MC’ing, the evening marked the official entry of the tuskers to the Indian Premier League. Out if the 27 players, only 20 could make it. But that did not reduce the glamour of the event one bit. The coach of the team along with co-owner Vivek Venugopal, took part in the Q & A session. And the best part was, the crowd was awe struck when the players came to the audience and sat beside them when the video was being shown . It definitely feels good when you sit besides International players like McCullum and VVS Laxman to watch their promotional video! What more can IPL fans ask for a start??!! The tuskers are all set to make Kochi proud with their first match on the 9th of April, and let’s wish them the best of luck, and also let them know that, we are with you! Gooooooooo Tuskeeeeeeeersssssss!!!!!!

The results are in! Say hello to the new Kochi IPL Team. Kochi Tuskers Kerala (no on referred to as just Kochi Tuskers ) is the new name of the team.

We think the name is great. And as for the logo, well anything is better than the initial logo that looked like that of a mosquito coil brand. And even more great news. We have insider information stating that all 7 matches will be played in Kochi. Stay tuned for more information.

Great news people. You have been reading all over thew internet and news about how people hated the name Indi Commandos. We have some good news. We heard from the horses mouth that the team name is changing. Our source who is very closly associated with the Kochi IPL team has told us that the feedback from the internet was shown to the team owners. According to our source the feedback taken from the internet needed parental guidance to even look at. This has forced the management to acknowledge the problem and respect the peoples views.

From what we know the new name is going to have the word Kochi or Kerala or Green or God’s Own in it. As long as its not Indi Commandos its good. Kudos to all the people who thrashed Indi Commandos. We did it!

Film maker Priyadarshan is now at Kochi Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium shooting Kochi IPL teams theme song. The song is going to be a fusion between Kalaripayattu and Cricket. According to script writer Sreekumar A, kalaripayattu and cricket share the same kind of fight-till-the-end attitude. Here are some amateur pictures taken during the shoot.

In just hours after the Kochi IPL team name was unveiled they managed to change the name. The Kochi IPL team name is NOT Indi Commandos anymore. It is…. (drum roll)….. INDI COMMANDOS KERALA! Looks like people are loosing their mind trying to fix the situation and get the thousands of disappointed fans over such an anti climax. There is a bus strike tomorrow in light of this news.

And also more on the lame updates. Out of the 7 matches for Kochi 2 have been shifted to Indore. Yaay (sarcastic). The internet is full of hilarious comments about the team.  Check out the official facebook page to see them. In other news, a group has been created on facebook calling for a ‘proper’ name change. Something far different from the commando name. Not surprisingly, this new group has more four times more followers than the official page.

1. Kochi Tigers
2. Kerala Tigers
