So here is something new for shopaholics in town. Alamkrita, an exhibition that has awed Kochiites will be on from the 23rd to 25th of November 2011. Pick the trendiest clothes and accessories from Alamkrita. The exhibition is happening at Lotus Club, Warriam Road from 9. 30 a.m to 8. 00 p.m.

Kochi has been hosting wonderful exhibitions since the past few years. With lovely products to check out, exhibitions showcasing ethnic products are always loved and looked out for. This time too, we have a wonderful exhibition in town. It’s ‘Orissa’ this season. Check out the wonderful saris, salwar materials, accessories and showcase pieces which the exhibition hosts. Irresistible, you would want to buy the whole of it!! The exhibition is held at Women’s Association Hall, Warriom Road.

Check out the Dhokra Tribal Sculptures which are one-of-its kind and unique. You don’t find them much often in our shops here. The sculptures are truly magnificent and contain ethnicity at its best. It also makes a wonderful gift which you can present to your loved ones! They are available in figurines of goddesses, animals and birds. Price range- 150 rupees and onwards.
Now check out saris! Cuttack and Sambalpur saris are a must try-out. Coming in wonderful shades of magenta, black and more, they are pretty. You can also dig on Habaspuri, Bomaki and Kotpad saris as well.

The Kerala Bamboo festival 2009 proved to be better than its previous editions as it drew hundreds of artisans from all over India to expound why the ubiquitous humble bamboo continues to fascinate and contribute substantially to the cultural and economical life of communities in various parts of the country.
Venue : Ernakulam Town Hall

The number of participants is much more than what it had last year. A total of 99 stalls have been set up for exhibiting and selling products made of Bamboo from the states of Manipur , Meghalaya , AP, Assam , Sikkim , and Nagaland. Apart from this , there will also be stalls that sell machineries from Nagpur , Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh.
There will be bamboo related cultural programmes in the evenings of during the Bamboo festival . Products being displayed will include handicrafts from bamboo and furniture . Live exhibition of bamboo product making will be a highlight of the event.
A technical seminar on bamboo nursery and product management organised by the Kerala Bamboo mission will be held on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am.
The State government has also approved plans to set up a bamboo floor tile factory. The unit coming up in Kozhikode will be implemented using Chinese technology.
