The Dalai Lama, a man of peace and spirituality is visiting Kochi, tomorrow on the 4th of September. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 and has been in the public eye ever since. Traditionally, he is thought of as the latest reincarnation of a series of Tibetan spiritual leaders who have chosen to be reborn in order to enlighten others. In this case the ‘others’ for the 4th will be the denizens of Kochi.
The Dalai Lama will deliver the inaugural lecture for a four-day seminar on religious freedom. The seminar titled ‘Beyond Conflict to Reconciliation: The Challenge of the 21st Century’ organised by International Association for Religious Freedom held at the Catholic Renewal Center, will have social and religious leaders from all over the world attending it.
It is also expected that the Dalai Lama will meet with the Friends of Tibet. In relation to his meeting with them, the Friends of Tibet have also lined up a series of programs related to Tibet. An exhibition of historic photographs on Tibet, the Dalai Lama and on artifacts from Tibet will be conducted.
Kashi Art Cafe, Fort Kochi in synonymous with the spiritual leader’s visit will have an exhibition of select cartoons on the Tibetan issues which will has been running since August 29th and will end on the 4th of September.
